Hallie Cooper-Novack

HALLIE COOPER-NOVACK is a writer and director based in LA. When she was a  contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, host Terry Crews declared, “She’s really playing the game,” so she tries to carry that same energy into everything she does.

Her short Relations starring Kate Lyn Sheil and Hunter Parrish has shown at the Ashland International Film Festival, the Maryland Film Festival, and St. Louis International Film Festival, among many others, and made its online premiere on NoBudge.com.

The music video she directed for MGMT’s When You Die starring Alex Karpovsky premiered on The New Yorker site, and has racked up over 30 million views on YouTube.

Hallie’s background is in acting, and she received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, where she trained with some of the most acclaimed actors of her generation. Her TV/Film credits include The Good WifeLaw & Order: SVU, Law & Order: CI, City Island, and Front Cover, among others.

After a stint working in development at Imagine Entertainment Television, she spent several years working for Jason Katims, the award-winning writer/producer known for Friday Night Lights and Parenthood,  most recently in the writers' room for a Disney+ show.

Hallie’s breadth of experience on all sides of TV and film production, coupled with her training in theater, give her a unique insight into the entertainment industry that she uses to support and mentor young actors.

Having worked with Hallie as both an acting coach and a director, I so appreciate the deep understanding she has of the actor’s process. Her intelligence and passion for the form make any project or session with her an exciting dive into what’s possible. She has a remarkable gift for tailoring her approach to each individual actor. Hallie helped me find specificity and emotional depth in each project we worked on together. Her sensitivity to the material and excellent writer’s ear have helped me make strong choices, allowing me to be present and spontaneous. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
